OMDREB REALTORS initiated this fundraising project over a year ago, after a direct request was made to them by the Shelters Director. The Lighthouse Directors wish was for a garden that would o er sanctuary for those in need of the services at the Shelter, as well to create a garden to remember the individuals that have passed through the Shelters doors who are no longer with us. On Friday, September 24th all the donors who have contributed to this project were recognized, as well as a special acknowledgment was given to David and Denise Gaze, of David Gaze Landscaping whose imagination and hard work created this beautiful space. OMDREB Members are committed to this project and to making a di erence in the community and in the lives of those who rely on the Shelter for warmth, comfort and safety. The simple act of planting a garden is one of the most bene cial things that can be done for the environment in a shelter The Halton Lighthouse Shelter is the only emergency homeless shelter serving all of Oakville, Burlington and Milton and serves a population of 440,000 - there is a total vacancy of 25 beds; 15 for males and 10 for females. Every year, 1,200 Halton residents become homeless due to the lack of a ordable housing. The principal layout of the circle and cross design for the Garden is one that signi es hope, rest and refuge. and because ...everyone deserves a place to shelter and heal.
