This years event will raise funds for the Kerr Street Ministries (KSM) Dream Centre, which provides educa- tional programs and food secu- rity for children and their fam- ilies in Oakville and Halton. The party will take place on Saturday, Nov. 6 at the International Union of Operating Engineers Banquet Hall on Speers Road. Guests will be able to dance to their favourite classics of the 70s and 80s played by a live band. There will be door prizes, a silent auction and food tast- ing stations provided by local businesses. The music will be performed by Oakvilles own The Kings, who will do renditions of Glide, This Beat Goes On and more. Tasting stations are provid- ed by Montfort Mediterranean Cuisine, Julia's Ristorante, Chocolates by Bernard Callebaut, Paradiso, Monastery Bakery & Deli, Sushi Hour, Starbucks Coffee Canada, South St. Burger, Tag Vodka and more. Over the past six years the event has been sold out and has raised more than $65,000 to support the Oakville communi- ty. Past beneficiaries have included Cruisers Sports for the Physically Disabled, Wellspring of Oakville, The Rocks for Crops Foundation, Reach Legacy Fund of Oakville, Reach Out Centre for Kids and the Sunshine Foundation Dreams for Kids. The event organizers work on a 100 per cent volunteer basis and handle the event co- ordination and fundraising. Product donations, services and time is provided by local businesses and residents and all proceeds go to the charity. This years recipient, KSM, provides services such as a music instruction rooms, instructional kitchen, a food bank, computer lab for literacy training; a youth centre for after school programs and a gymnasium for sports educa- tion and fitness.
