17 Thursday , O ctober 21, 2010 O A KVILLE BEA V ER w w w .o akvillebeaver .co m Quilt event benefits Charlie Fund On Saturday, Oct. 23, The Charlie Fund of the Oakville & Milton Humane Society will celebrate its 25th anniversary of providing emergency veteri- nary care to ill and injured homeless animals by hosting a Quilt Show and Auction at Maple Grove United Church. The event will run from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It will include the quilt show, silent auction, crafts and pet-related attractions. Admission is $2 and all proceeds go to the fund. The Charlie Fund was formed in 1985 in response to the need for a fund specifically designated to emergency vet- erinary care for homeless ani- mals in care of the Oakville & Milton Humane Society. Named for a spirited border collie named Charlie who had an overwhelming leg injury which resulted in amputation and who was later adopted, The Charlie Fund has helped many animals who might not other- wise have gone on to live happy lives with forever families. On Friday, Oct. 29, the Downtown Oakville BIA encourages all tiny trick or treaters to come down to the Town Square to show off their costumes at 10 a.m. Daisy the Witch will be there to greet them and get them started on their way to collect all the spectacular treats and goodies that the businesses of downtown Oakville have to offer.
