Carson Terry, Gladys Speers Gladys Speers wins tyke boys pennant at junior meet Gladys Speers Public School was the tyke boys champion at the Halton District School Boards jun- ior Amos cross-country meet, held Wednesday in Burlington. Gladys Speers also ranked fourth in the junior girls and junior boys divisions. New Central came second in the atom boys division. Sheridan was the only other local school to participate in the meet, which featured 23 Halton public schools that go from kindergarten to Grade 5 or 6. AMOS JR. CROSS COUNTRYRESULTS Minor bantam AAA Rangers rolling early in SCTA action The Oakville minor bantam AAA Rangers are off to a flying start, winning their first 10 games in SCTA action. Oakville hopes to carry that momentum into a couple of challenging tournaments next month. The Rangers will travel to Chicago in early November for the presti- gious Nike-Bauer Challenge, then compete in the International Silver Stick Tournament in Whitby Nov. 25-28. Members of the team are Brendan McGlynn and Scott Smith, defencemen Andrew Burns, John Carney, Matt Spencer, Cole Ouellette, Mitchell Prentice and Misha Song, and forwards Jesse Barwell, Sean Kohler, Cameron Mackenzie, Oliver Chau, Sean Courage, Matt Luff, Mark Bzowey, Robbie Fornasiero and Cole Buchan. Duncan Harvey, Kevin Gomes and Jay Barwell are the teams coaches.
