the retirement option of choice Walter Used To Eat Frozen Dinners Alone Mealtime was mostly a chore forWalter. Living alone, he would simply choose what was easiest to prepare and eat it in front of the TV. Nutrition was rarely a consideration. At Chartwell, the chef changes the menu daily, so Walter not only gets to choose from a variety of balanced meals, but he enjoys them with a side-dish of laughter and conversation. Now he enjoys a varied menu and great company. Mayor Burton as special guest speaker. 7 Friday , O ctober 22, 2010 O A KVILLE BEA V ER w w w .o akvillebeaver .co m Never has it been made clearer that fol- low-up to my health care is my responsi- bility. Today, thumbing through some papers, I discovered that I hadn't received my annual reminder from the Ontario Breast Screening Program from Gam X-Ray Limited Oakville. When I called them, they told me that they were no longer participating and would only do mammograms with a doc- tor's requisition. Not only are they not participating they're not notifying patients that they have to make alternate arrangements nor is the Ontario Breast Screening Program stepping up to the plate with follow-up information about what labs we might be able to go to if we want to continue in this program. When you call the Ontario Breast Screening Program the only office list- ed in Oakville is Gam X-Ray Limited the company that has withdrawn from the program. Ultimately my health, is my responsi- bility so I've made other arrangements to get a mammography requisition from my health care provider. Hopefully this letter will serve as a reminder to others that they will have to do the same. In this month of October Breast Cancer Awareness Month may I suggest that stamps, rather than pink ribbons, might have been a better use of funds.
