Treshams last visit with his family took place on the Canada Day weekend, howev- er, he would go on to make his characteristic frequent calls right up until the day before his death. On one of those calls Tresham talked with Kim about his upcoming plans to visit the family. Kim said Tresham called again at 10:30 p.m. to ask Garry some computer ques- tions stating his friends com- puter had a virus. This would be the last time the family would talk with him. That Friday, Kim called Tresham repeatedly, but got no reply. Finally at 4 p.m. members of the military came to the ODonnell home and informed them Tresham had been found dead earlier that morning. I wasnt expecting this type of death because I always knew that he would go to Afghanistan because he want- ed to go so bad, said Kim. I had lived out the scenario of losing him so many times, but I never expected it to happen at this stage, in this way. While the loss of Tresham was devastating, the ODonnells said they were overwhelmed by the support that has come from both the community and the military which held a funeral for Tresham complete with full military honours. The ODonnells are plan- ning to honour Tresham in their own way by putting together a team to participate in the 5 kilometre Turkey Run in support of Kerr Street Ministries on Thanksgiving Monday, Oct. 11. We know Thanksgivings and Christmases will be hard without Luke because he was always here, said Kim. Divers scuba gear can be seen on the pier. Two people have been taken to Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital after police responded to a mayday distress signal from a small vessel on Lake Ontario, Wednesday after- noon. Halton Police Inspector Ivan LOrtye said police marine units from Halton, Peel and Toronto responded to the mayday, which was sent out at around 3:30 p.m. Two individuals were rescued from the water. Both those individuals were taken here to the dock, transported into ambulance and theyve been taken to hospital, said LOrtye at the eastern pier at Oakville Harbour. I have no information right now on the extent of their injuries. Police would not comment on the nature of the emergency or what the victims were doing when the emergency occurred. LOrtye would not confirm whether a large amount of scuba gear placed on the pier after the rescue was connected with the victims. A police vessel was seen towing a boat with the word Aquaholic.ca on the side. Aquaholic.ca is the web address of a dive charter organization, which runs regular dive charters and excursions to the shipwrecks of the lower Great Lakes, the Niagara and lower St. Lawrence rivers. The organization also offers scuba instruction. Police respond to mayday call
