Oak Trails l Lifetimes / MilestonesRegistration HUNTER, Bruce Stanley - WWII Veteran (December 5, 1922 - September 4, 2010) It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bruce Stanley Hunter on September 4th, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer at the Oakville Trafalgar Hospital Palliative Care in his 87th year with his wife, Ruby, their son, Bruce Robert (Lynn) and grandchildren Tracy and Kimberly by his side. Bruce will be dearly missed by our daughter Kathleen and grandchildren Trina and Jason. Bruce was predeceased by his parents Edith Blanche Wickenden and Frank Hunter. Loving brother of Sylvia (and the late Charles); Allan (Agnes); the late Eddie; the late Isabella Rose (the late George Gray); the late Eric (the late Joyce); and the late Lowis (Bruce). He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and many friends. Bruce and Ruby shared a special love which began 63 years ago. Bruce was a kinder, more thoughtful and wonderful person who always went to sleep holding Ruby's hand every night until his passing. Bruce will be sorely missed by all his family. Bruce was a gifted master carpenter who loved to build, could fix anything and took great pride in everything he did. He had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to have his family around. He would always lighten a burden and bring a smile to those around. Bruce proudly served in the 1st Batallion of the Black Watch (RHR) of Canada, and was taken Prisoner of War. Bruce was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 114, Oakville. The family would like to thank Dr. David G. Schooling for many years of outstanding care of Bruce, Dr. M. Viqar Khan for his compassion and care, and Dr. Naveen Arya for his care with his battle with cancer. A deepest gratitude to the medical staff of Oakville Trafalgar Hospital Palliative Care Unit, 4-East, until Bruce's passing. The compassion and dedication to making Bruce as comfortable as possible will never be forgotten. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the Glen Oaks Visitation and Reception Centre (905-257-8822), 3164 9th Line (403/Dundas) Oakville on Friday, September 10th at 11 am. with visitation 1 hour prior to the service. The Reverend Darcey Lazerte will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital Palliative Care Unit 4-East or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated. On-line condolences may be made at www.glenoaks.ca. JOHNSON, Catherine Peacefully to the arms of her Lord on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 in Oakville.
