Halton police have identified a man who died last week while scuba diving. Todd Fisher, a 37-year-old Welland man, died after showing signs of distress while diving last Wednesday, police said. He was with three men who had taken a boat several kilome- tres offshore in Lake Ontario when something went wrong, police said. The first diver went over to him and tried to help him out. The diver who is now deceased became more distressed. The other diver kept it together," said Sgt. Brian Carr. They had to slow (their ascent); they were going up too fast. Both divers were taken to hos- pital, with the second diver in fair condition, police said. Police received a distress call around 3 p.m. and marine units from Halton, Peel and Toronto responded.
