Nearly half the field was made up of local residents, while others came from across Canada, the U.S. and even China and South Africa. The event included the half-marathon (21.1-kilometre race), the Prince Bay 10K race and the Whole Foods 2K Family Fun Run/Walk. All events began and finished in Coronation Park. Andrew Gutzmore of St. Catharines won the half-marathon with a masters course-record time of 1:15:06. Jennifer Eberman of Toronto was the first overall female, clocking in at 1:25:58. In the Prince Bay 10K, Jerry Kooymans of Markham and Ali Drynan of Toronto were the overall winner and top female, respectively. This years Labour Day Oakville Half was the fourth year for the annual event. We are so very pleased with our turnout again this year, said race direc- tor Alison Turcotte. The weather was perfect for our runners there were many personal bests. The community support was outstanding and the volun- teers were fantastic. Great music by Canadian musician Chuck Jackson was a crowd pleaser and kept participants at the park long after their races were finished. Our race continues to grow every year.
