To celebrate the school community will participate in various events planned in September and October. St. Vincent is such a unique and truly spe- cial school located in the heart of southeast Oakville, said principal Brendan Browne, in a press release. We look forward to the opportu- nity to re-connect, celebrate and support 50 years of Catholic education. The St. Vincent school board was formed in 1959 at the request of former St. Andrew's Church pastor Monsignor Priester. The school opened at 1280 Braeside Dr. in 1960 with six classrooms. Today, the school has 15 class- rooms and 368 students. An outdoor mass will be held at St. Vincent led by Bishop Gerard Paul Bergie of the Hamilton Diocese on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 10 a.m. followed by a light reception. On Oct. 15, past and present parents and alumni who are 19 or older, are also invited to a night out for the 50th Anniversary Gala Fundraiser at the Operating Engineers Banquet & Conference Centre. It will feature food, casi- nos, auctions, prizes and complimentary drinks. Tickets cost $85 and can be purchased at the school or through Kelly Demmings at kdem- mings@sympatico.ca.
