The event will include fun activ- ities for families and a long walk for pets. The day will include a 5 km walk or half-kilometre stroll for animals through beautiful old Oakville around the park. The fair portion of the event will offer fun for the whole family, including agility demonstration, a fun dog show, a childrens zone with inflatable carnival games and crafts, a vendor marketplace with food and products for pets and their people, and more. Critters Gone Country runs from noon to 4 p.m. Guinness World Record During the event the humane society will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most dogs receiving a training les- son in one location. The previous record was set at an event in The Netherlands in 2004 and was for 257 dogs. To beat the current record, the humane society invites Oakville dog owners to bring their canine best friend to Critters Gone Country; the Guinness World Record attempt will take place at 1:30 p.m. in the ball diamonds at Cornwall Road Park. Dogs must be leashed, but do not need to have any previ- ous obedience experience. Genevieve Reisinger, dog behaviour specialist with the humane society, will give the les- son and will be a simple, fun trick designed to enhance the human animal bond. The humane society set sights on breaking the record in order to highlight the importance of dog training in the success of dogs stay- ing in forever homes.
