Police said at around 2 a.m. thieves some- how breached the theatres office where they destroyed and emptied a safe. An undisclosed amount of cash was reported stolen. Ward 5 Town and Regional Councillor Jeff Knoll, who is also the chief administrative officer at the theatre, said thieves also stole the hard disk drives from the theatres main computer server, several other computers, personal laptops and a digital projector. Knoll said the thieves also did some inter- nal damage to the building on the second floor, but noted it was minor. We are working with police to identify and apprehend those responsible. We have complete confidence in the abilities of the Halton Regional Police to bring their investi- gation to a successful conclusion, said Knoll. No employees or customers were in the theatre at the time of the robbery. Police said they have yet to determine how the thieves got inside the theatre. Normal operations resumed at Encore Oakville Mews Cinemas Sunday afternoon. The Halton Regional Police Service con- tinues to investigate this incident. Encore Cinemas robbed Halton police have arrested one man in connection with a possible attempted rob- bery, which occurred at a Shoppers Drug Mart, located at 520 Kerr St., Friday night. Police were called to the store at around 7 p.m. after an employee became suspicious of a shopper who appeared to have a knife in his hand as he moved about the store. Halton police arrived on the scene and arrested the man without incident. A search of the man revealed no knives or other weapons, however, police said a note indicating an intent to rob the store was found on his person. Police also searched the area for weapons that may have been discarded, but found nothing. Colin Gordon Lemoyre, 21, of no fixed address, has been charged with attempted robbery.
