Soggy and cool conditions didnt dampen the spirits of the Oakville minor bantam AA Rangers last weekend. The team, along with many other Rangers players from the 1997 birthyear, raised more than $22,000 for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation through its involvement in Sundays CIBC Run For The Cure. The minor bantam AA Rangers were supporting one of their own teammates, Sam Vasilaros-Wilson, as his mother Christine battles the disease. Daniel (Sams father) and I were overwhelmed by all the enthusiasm... despite the dis- mal weather, said Christine Vasilaros-Wilson. Standing there in the cold and rain, look- ing at all of you who had taken time from your busy lives to support this important cause, was very moving. This years CIBC Run For The Cure raised more than $33 million across Canada. w w w . o a kv ill eb ea ve r.c o m O A KV IL LE B EA V ER Th ur sd ay , O ct ob er 7 , 2 01 0 3 4 The heat is on CATHOLIC CROSS- COUNTRY: The Halton Catholic District School Board held its elementary cross-country championships Friday and Saturday at Bronte Creek Provincial Park.
