Record crowd, great entertainment for Actons 15th Leathertown Festival By Maggie Petrushevsky The 15th annual Leathertown Festival drew a record crowd with participants and organizers alike extolling its success BIA co-ordinator Josey Bonnette estimates attendance at 10,000 people. While there were a few less vendors than last year, she feels this may have been an advantage because it gave people room to spread out more and that made things more comfortable for visitors walking through the festival. We had a great day. The weather was perfect. We had a record crowd. We had great entertainment. It was a good day all round, Bonnette says. This years theme was Gone Country and the entertainers were country music personalities. Even the kids got in on the theme with a mechanical bull to ride in their section of the show. That was a riot to watch, Bonnette says. Next year the theme will be Rock On With the Acton Leathertown Festival and will feature music from the 60s and 70s, she says. Dylan Strangeman of Milton walked away as the winner of the Acton Idol competition, says organizer Dean Haugh- ie. Only four of the five finalists showed up to compete. Angela Tyler photos
