Halton Residents are invited to come out to our Compost Give Away to pick up some of this compost as a 'Thank You' for helping divert a usable material from the landfill, thereby extending its life! All Halton households are welcome to collect a maximum of seven bags (or equivalent) of compost. Residents are responsible for shovelling and bagging their own compost. Please bring your own bags/containers and shovel. Non-perishable food items or cash donations will also be gratefully accepted on behalf of Halton area food banks. House cleaning? We can help! Bring your reusable clothing and household items to the Salvation Army Depot at Haltons Waste Management Site. A Community Partnership Thank you for helping your community in need. Continued from page 1 Ground breaking... Back to court September 25 member, said the project would be a corner stone for the community as he thanked the councillors, committee members, do- nors and families of the 3 Musketears, three Acton boys who died in a car/train crash almost five years ago south of Acton. The Toth, Dick and Everson families pledged $30,000 to the skateboard park from proceeds of their annual golf tournament, and handed over the final cheque for $10,000 at the groundbreaking ceremony. Bonnette said the fam- ilys sponsorship of the skatepark is a legacy the families can leave for the boys that will benefit all youth. He also praised the fundraising committee that raised more than $100,000, sentiments echoed by Fend- ley who also thanked the 3 Musketears families for sharing your boys with us. Their memories will live on. Finding a suitable loca- tion delayed the project, but Terry Alymann, the Towns director of recreation and parks, said it was worth the wait for the site fac- ing Tanners Drive, beside 25-acres of Town parkland that will soon become the recreation and sports hub of the community with soc- cer fields, a trail network and parkland. Two Acton women charged with leaving their elderly relative in a sweltering car while they shopped will be back in a Milton court on September 25. Their case was put over to that date at a brief hearing on Monday, which the women did not attend. Bonnie Bouclair, 60 and her daughter Kimberly, 36, were charged on July 15 with failing to provide the necessities of life after their mother and grandmother, 97- year-old Phyllis Arnott, was left in a car which police said registered 50C. Arnott was taken to hos- pital and later released back into the care of the Bouclairs, who had initially agreed not to have any contact with her. All three live in Arnotts Peel Street home. LITTER BUSTERS: Plastic litter bags, like the one being presented to Emma Rooney, 8 months, and her mom Melissa by Litter Free Halton Hills Task force members Josey Bonnette and Councillor Clark Somerville, will be handed out to Acton Tim Hortons and McDonalds customers on September 20 as part of the Towns anti-littering campaign.
