All former Rockwood Reb- els, the girls played for the Rep League in Halton over the past summer. Smelsky, recipient of the Most Sportsman Like, and Box, recipient of the Most Improved Player, both played for the Ban- tam Hawks, while Sroka, recipient of Most Improved Player was a member of the Novice Hawks team. While the summer posed to be a challenging one with regular season games as well as an intense tourna- ment season, each of the girls rose to the occasion bringing with them the skill and determination taught to them through the time spent with the Rebels. Sroka, with her Novice team, competed in the On- tario Provincials, while the Bantam Hawks with Smelsky and Box qualified for the USFA World Series to be held in Panama City, Florida next summer. Much of their success was due to the Rockwood coaches whose time and commitment to the girls was greatly appreciated. An added thank-you went to Paul Parkinson.for challenging the gruesome twosome that one step more. The girls will continue on next summer with the Hawks. Sroka has accepted a position on the Bantam team, while Smelsky and Box will make the leap to Midget ahead of schedule.
