It is also about building complete, sustainable, and healthy communities. 22 Draft Technical Background Studies have been prepared to provide a context for discussing Haltons future. These studies cover issues such as analysing Haltons land supply, preserving agricultural land, determining how to meet Haltons human service needs in the future, and how Halton can meet its future infrastructure needs such as roads, and water and wastewater services. Halton Region is holding a symposium to discuss the Sustainable Halton project and the 22 Technical Background Studies in more detail. June is Seniors Month, and to celebrate the Town of Halton Hills is hosting Seniors Days for adults 55 years of age and over. On June 12, 13,14 there are many free activities planned from recreational swims to Tai Chi classes, There is something to in- terest everyone. Watch for the advertisements in the local paper, and come out and join us. Most of the activities are planned for the Gellert Community Centre, but there are free swims on Thursday June 14 at the Acton Indoor pool from 11.00 a.m.-12.00 p.m. If you are interested in going to the Gellert Centre and do not have a ride, perhaps it would be the per- fect opportunity to take the Activan, Tickets are avail- able at the Acton Library, Elizabeth Street apartments, Links2Care, and the Acton Seniors Centre. Also during June The Acton Tanner will be fea- turing an Acton Seniors Centre member who has been active in the com- munity. This week we are featuring Donna Rowley! I hope you enjoy learning a little about her. The new newsletters are available at the front desk, I apologize for jumping the gun a couple of weeks ago and saying they were avail- able. Pick one up and find out what is happening at the Centre during the next few months. I had a call from Marga- ret Neilson to tell me that although there were only six players carpet bowling they had a blow out. Pat Joness black team lost to Betty Lockerbies black team 24 7. The last day for carpet bowling will be Monday June 25, and they will resume on Monday September 10. Hopefully we will see lots of people at the Grannys Attic / Garage Sale on Sat- urday June 9. Who knows, you might pick up some item that we will see later on the Antique Road Show! Dont forget one persons junk is another persons treasure. We are accepting donations of saleable items on Friday, but no shoes or clothing please. All we need is good weather, and a large crowd. The next dinner we will be having at the Centre will be to celebrate Seniors Month, and all the many volunteer hours seniors put in over their lifetime. Without the volunteer work many pro- grams and events would not be able to function. Victor tells me on the menu will be hamburgers, baked po- tatoes, and watermelon. We will be truly entertained by the Group Area 519, which includes Actons own Don Lindsay. Last Fridays weekly 50/50 draw was won by Marie Anderson. Marie puts in many hours of volunteer work at the Centre with the crafts, and is also the secretary of the Acton Ag- riculture Society. She won $117.50. Congratulations Marie. At the last Dinner at the Acton Seniors Centre the Abruzzi Folk Dancers of Guelph enter- tained us with their intricate traditional Italian folk dances. The dance with the flags was very impressive.
