Funding for the expansion The mammoth, million dollar Main Street reconstruction project is underway, and when its complete, approximately one kilometre of brand new road (with new water and sewer pipes underneath some areas) will replace what one local politician called a cow path. Ron Goddard, the Towns Manager of Engineering, Design and Capital Works said King Paving and Mate- rials plan is to keep the road open throughout the whole project, and to minimize traffi c delays. The $1.3-million project to recon- struct Main Street from Knox Street to Actons southerly limit near the entrance to Superior Glove, is a joint contract with Halton Region which is replacing water and wastewater pipes in some areas. On Monday, Goddard said they would work on the Knox Street to Church Street area fi rst. Then, theyll do some storm sewer work on Vimy Street, which is also part of this contract, and that will be following the fi rst section on the water and sanitary (pipes), Goddard said, adding then theyll begin work on Main Street. The work should be complete by the end of October.
