Register now for fall activites Advertisements on these pages showcase a multitude of pursuits for everyone If you have signed your name to go to the St Law- rence Market on Saturday, Sept. 8 please come to the Centre as soon as possible and pay the $12. We still have room for a few more people, and if some men would like to accompany us they would be very welcome. The Orangeville train ride is finalized now, and there is a sign-up sheet at the Centre. We are inviting the men on this trip, too. We will have a school bus to Orangeville, board the train, have soup, turkey dinner, dessert, and tea or coffee while enjoy- ing the fall scenery as we travel through the Forks of the Credit. Then we return to Orangeville where the bus will be waiting to return us home. I was visiting the Centre when the bingo was in full swing, and it was great to see a well rested Donna Rowley back from her extended visit to Chapleau (She tells me it was freezing up there). It was nice to see and hear Joan Pitcher back playing the piano and people enjoy- ing singing along. Freda and John Buckman have finished their various camping expe- ditions over the summer and returned to the familiar rou- tine of singing, and lunch. Margaret Smits was visit- ing from Glenella, Manitoba. (She is a friend of Mary Walsmas) and Barbara Bax- ter is visiting her sister, Gwen Pembleton. She lives in Perth Australia. Betty Butler, who now lives in Guelph also dropped in for a visit. There was a new member enjoying the bingo. Welcome Claire Landry. Thursday afternoon eu- chre was enjoyed by all who attended, and Frances Hogen- birk had the only mooner. The new newsletters are at the front desk. Please pick one up so you will know what is happening at the Centre. Sometimes there are things that miss the print deadline, and they will be posted on the white board in the entrance. In early September we have the following events: Tuesday, Sept. 4 the an- nual Gerri Fashion show. The clothing will be here in the morning, and the fashion show starts at 2 p.m. The Niagara Casino is on Wednesday, Sept. 5, and I have already mentioned the St. Lawrence Market trip. The following week, on Tuesday, Sept. 11 we have the Birthday Tea at 2 p.m. to Continued on page 8
