Officers from County of Wellington O.P.P. re- sponded to a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Hillsburgh area on Monday, Aug 27. Police said their investigation revealed a 13-year-old female was walking home when she observed a vehicle pass her several times. The driver waved at her each time he drove past. The man then stopped alongside the girl and asked if the liquor store was open. He then tried to entice her into the vehicle. She walked away and the vehicle fol- lowed until the victim was able to elude the suspect. The suspect is described as: male/white, 35-40 years- old, short reddish-blonde wavy hair that was pulled back, fair complexion, freckles, clean shaven, ap- peared tall with a thin build, wearing dark sunglasses, a dark green shirt and dark green shorts. He was driving a Toyota Echo 2-door silver hatch- back, plate unknown. Halton Regions fall compost give away returns Friday, September 14 and continues on Saturday, September 15 and Monday, September 17. It takes place at the Halton Waste Management Site, 5400 Regional Road 25 in Milton from 8 a.m. 4:30 p.m. As part of Haltons strategy to divert waste away from Haltons landfill site, residential yard waste picked up from curbsides is recycled into rich, garden- friendly compost. Twice a year, Halton residents are invited to collect the finished product for use in their gardens as a thank you for their participation in the Regions yard waste program. More than 1,000 tonnes of finished com- post will be available to residents during the fall give away. The annual compost give aways are very popular with residents and are a wonderful illustration of a successful re- cycling program, said Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr. Residents can pick up free of charge, rich, garden-friendly com- post produced from the leaves, brush and other yard waste material they put out for collection. At the 2007 spring compost give away, Halton residents donated a record $10,274 in cash donations and approximately eight tonnes of food. Residents are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item or a cash donation for local food banks when picking up their compost. Residents must bring their own bags or containers (maximum seven per house- hold) and a shovel in order to bag their own compost. This is the 12th year of Haltons compost give away program; events are held in the spring and fall each year. Almost 30,000 tonnes of yard waste were collected by the Region and diverted from landfill last year. Halton Region Chair Gary Carr and members of Regional Council will attend upcoming fall fairs in Georgetown, Acton and Milton and will available to answer any questions Halton residents may have or provide important and useful information they may be seeking. Halton Regional Police are investigating a fatal collision between a mo- torcycle and an SUV that occurred Saturday after- noon on Campbellville Road, west of Tremaine Road in Milton. Shortly after 1 p.m. the motorcyclist was travelling westbound on a Suzuki SV6 when it collided with a Buick SUV that was pulling out of a residential driveway, police said. The motorcycle collided with the left side of the SUV. Police and EMS arrived on the scene quickly but the motorcyclist, a 23- year-old Brantford man, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Driver of the car, a 67- year-old Milton woman, and her 72-year-old hus- band, who was sitting in the front seat, were not injured. Campbellville Road was closed for approximately six hours while the recon- structionist of Haltons Collision Reconstruction Unit completed the at- scene investigation. Police are urging any witnesses to call the reconstruction investigative team at ext. 2381. The deceased motorcy- clist has been identified as Sebastian Pasiut, 23,of Brantford. Police will not be releasing the name of the SUV driver. This is the 18th traf- fic death investigated by Halton Regional Police this year and the third in- volving a motorcycle.
