ACTON HIGH SCHOOL Grade 9 Program Night Thursday, September 13 7:00 p.m.- 8:45 p.m. ALL WELCOME David Chapman, presi- dent and founder, of Purity Life, was acknowledged by his peers within the Canadian Natural products industry for his contribu- tion over the past 23 years to the growth of the in- dustry by naming him to the prestigious Canadian Health Food Associations Hall of Fame Award. The award was presented at the CHFA trade show in the Metro Toronto Conven- tion Centre on Saturday. David Chapman has spent the last 23 years building Purity Life. He has also spent just as much time and effort supporting, encouraging and influ- encing the course of the Natural Products Industry, which now accounts for over $1 billion in retail sales in Canada. In the early days of the CHFA, Chapman lead the charge to build an industry that makes a difference in peoples lives. In recent years, Chapman has laboured tirelessly as part of the CHFA Board of Directors on the new Natural Health Products Directorate regulations, ensuring that the industry voice has been heard in the halls of the federal government. When many were frustrated, weary and ready to throw in the towel, Chapman focused on get- ting a system that would help the industry gain cred- ibility. Serving over 19 years on the CHFA Board of Direc- tors, Chapman rarely has stepped into the spotlight, content to work in the back- ground. After 19 years on the Board and 23 years in the industry it was great to see David recognized for his work, said Matthew James, Senior Vice Presi- dent of Purity Life. David received his award to a standing ovation of about 500-600 industry members along with Elyse, Melissa and Janice Chap- man and many Purity staff in attendance. In addition to David, Donna Bannister, in Purity Lifes customer service department, was also rec- ognized by retailers for her exceptional level of customer service and dedi- cation to our retailer. Donna gave a heartfelt acceptance speech which eloquently captured her passion for those she works for and the customers she services. Well done Donna! With the cooler fall weather expected and the success of this summers mandatory water restriction period, Halton Region has now ended the mandatory odd/even water use restric- tion. However, the Region is still asking all residents and businesses to continue to voluntarily restrict their water use. Odd numbered homes should water on odd num- bered calendar days and even numbered homes on even numbered calendar days. Outdoor watering includes watering lawns, flowers, vegetable gardens, trees and shrubs. To further preserve Haltons water supply, the Region is also asking residents to refrain from washing their driveway or the sidewalk. Further details of specific water use restrictions and exemp- tions can be found on the Regions website at www. halton.ca. Since lawns only need one inch of water once a week to stay healthy, it is not necessary to water on every odd or even day. By using a rain gauge, residents can accurately monitor the amount of water their lawn receives naturally each week. The Region is thanking those residents and busi- nesses that complied with the water use restrictions for helping to preserve es- sential water supplies. Halton Regions Planning and Public Works staff say they are monitoring the Regions water reservoir levels closely. If the hot, dry weather returns, it may be- come necessary to upgrade the level of the watering ban.
