The 2007 Halton Residential Ultra Low Flow (ULF) Toilet Rebate Pilot Program is offering a rebate to Halton residents who pur- chase and install an approved water effi cient toilet in their home. In the typical home, toilet fl ushing can account for approximately 30 per cent of water usage inside the home. The installation of a high-ef- fi ciency toilet could save 28 litres of water per person per day based on the replacement of an older ineffi cient 13L per fl ush toilet models. Halton residents, who are on the municipal water sup- ply and purchase an approved toilet model in 2007, can apply for a rebate for one toilet per household at this time. Based on the program funding, the Halton Residen- tial Ultra Low Flow (ULF) Toilet Rebate Pilot Program is offering 700 rebates on a fi rst-come, fi rst-serve basis in 2007. Halton Region is pro- moting water conservation with the Halton Residential Ultra Low Flow (ULF) Toi- let Rebate Pilot Program and encouraging residents to be water wise inside the home, said Halton Regional Chair Gary Carr. Water is a precious resource and we want everyone to participate in preserving it now and for future generations. The toilet rebate pilot pro- gram is a great opportunity for residents in Acton and Georgetown on the munici- pal water supply to conserve water, added Halton Hills Mayor Rick Bonnette. As we saw this past summer with the hot and dry weather, the capacity of the water system in our area was under stress, so it is important that we all make an effort to help and reduce water usage in our homes. On October 10, 2007 Halton Regional Council approved staff report PPW 128-07 providing endorsement for the implementation of the 2007 Halton Residential ULF Toilet Rebate Pilot Program. Based on the per fl ush water usage of the approved toilet purchased, residents can ap- ply for a rebate of $60 for toilets which utilize six litres of water per fl ush or a rebate of $75 for High Effi ciency or Dual Flush toilets which utilize 4.8 litre per fl ush and either three litres or six litres per fl ush respectively. To receive their rebate resi- dents complete and mail in the Halton Residential ULF Toilet Rebate Pilot Program Rebate Application Form with the original sales receipt from purchase of an approved model (in 2007), to Halton Region for verifi cation and processing of the rebate. As noted, based on the funds al- located to the pilot program rebates are limited to 700 and on a first-come, first-serve basis.
