The Adult Day Program currently provides service for 70 north Halton residents five days a week, Monday to Friday, and includes both the Milton Place and Friends Landing programs. The anni- versary celebration coincides with Adult Day Program Week, as designated by the Ontario Community Support Association. The Adult Day Program began 20 years ago, located in the former Halton Centen- nial Manor Long Term Care Home. Opening its doors in January, 1987, the day pro- gram offered an opportunity for seniors and adults with disabilities in Milton and area to attend a therapeutic and social program among their peers. At that time, the program accommodated 12 participants a day. With the reconstruction of Halton Centennial Manor in 1992 and the transition to Allendale, the program was expanded to accommodate 20 north Halton residents and a new program, Friends Landing. Friends Landing is a De- mentia specific program that can accommodate up to eight participants. Both programs continue to flourish, provid- ing a structured environment. Adult day programs also have the benefit of being a relief to many caregivers.
