Please call Elise for info at 519-853-1333(49) The Salute our Veterans dinner last Friday was a great success, and three members of the Acton Seniors Centre and one from Georgetown (who are vets), proudly paraded in behind Bryan Alder who carried the Cana- dian flag. The Acton Legion kindly lent us a large picture the men who served in WWII who were from Acton, plus some other memorabilia. I would personally like to thank Harold Smith for trust- ing me with his album, and all the Vets who dug through their pictures to find a photo of themselves in uniform. Everyone enjoyed the roast beef dinner, followed by pie, and Greg Ball won the 50/50. Door prizes were won by Jim Pearson, Marion Pear- son, Real Tetreault, Marg Spear, Helen Fowler, Bon- nie Ball, Beryl Timmins and Isabel Nicholls. The Royal City Academy of Irish Dance from Guelph. with their teacher Tara Tarwell, were a delight and enjoyed. Tickets for the annual Christmas Dinner are on sale at the front desk. Only a limited amount can be sold, so make sure you get yours early so you wont be disap- pointed. The Bazaar committee is busy preparing for the Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 24, and we will have lots of delicious baking, gifts and crafts suitable for everyone, Grannies Attic will have some great treasures. Lots of draws including Santas Sleigh full of goodies, and just what you need to take the weight off your feet, our deli- cious tea with an assortment of sandwiches, and home made goodies and a refresh- ing cup of tea, or coffee. Everyone buys cards, cal- endars and wrapping paper for Christmas. We have a great catalogue with all of these items listed at a good price. Its our newest fund- raising idea. This is instead of the annu- al cheese sale held annually for the past few years. The next Scrap Booking class will be on Nov. 26 at 6:45 and the next Paper Tole class on Thursday Nov. 29 also at 6:45 p.m. Both great ways of keeping those memories alive and those hands busy creating treasures for future generations. I was asked to mention the next Fresh Good Food Box delivery will be at Links2Care on Nov. 27 with pick up from 12:30-3 p.m. Bill Krever, President and C.E.O. of the Don Mills Foundation for Seniors, was at the Centre last week ex- plaining the importance of a survey, Building Bridges Tomorrow. This is a major project being conducted by the Older Adult Centre As- sociation of Ontario with a grant from the Trillium Foundation to access the fu- ture needs of 55 plus people in Ontario. It is expected to take three years to gather all the information. It will cover small towns, rural areas, isolated spots in Northern Ontario as well as the larger cities. If you are asked to fill out a survey please take the time to do so.
