They were presented at the clubs wine and cheese party in the old town hall last Friday evening. The Creaseys, a team for 51 years, have been active in the community, raising their family in Acton and being involved in so many facets of living, Rotarians Herb Dodds eulogized as the awards were presented. They have really found their niche since they reached retirement, turning their love of gardening into a great asset to Acton. Both are on the executive of the Acton Horticultural Society. They plant and maintain the garden and grounds in the Laura Dietrich memory garden in front of the library and maintain the Rotary Path from Main St. to Rotary Park. They assisted the late Mac MacSween in planning and developing the garden named in his memory, and maintain it on a daily basis. Continued on Page 2 Ted Arnott Ted Arnotts hat in Speakers ring Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott has confirmed he will be among those seeking the Speakers Chair for the Legislation Assembly of Ontario. Arnott feels his 17 years as an MPP and four years as Assistant Speaker qualifi es him for the prestigious post. MPPs will elect the Speaker by secret ballot on Wednesday, Nov. 28. Three Liberal MPPs Mi- chael Brown, Steve Peters and David Zimmer have also expressed interest in the job. The Speaker must preside impartially over all the proceedings of the House, Mr. Arnott says, noting he demonstrated a commitment to impariality when he was Assistant Speaker and worked constructively with MPPs of all parties. Its about setting aside partisanship for the greater good of Ontario, Arnott says. At the same time, he is being realistic about his chances in a House with a 71-seat Liberal majority. His Progressive Conserva- tive Party holds 26 seats with the New Democrats holding 10 and it will be diffi cult for anyone outside the governing party to become Speaker. Proposals put forward by Mr. Arnott include a plan to promote improved decorum in the Legislature; to monitor and improve security in the Legislative Precinct; and to complete the needed renovations to the exterior of the Legislation Building.
