People come from miles around to get bargains in time for Christmas gift giving. The sale opens at 8 a.m. and lasts until 5 p.m. If you dont mind crowds, then arrive early, but there are thousands of books on dis- play and there are plenty left for sale later in the day. Seasoned shoppers line up at 7 a.m. and come running inside with totes in hand, ready to fill them up. The books are new and most are priced between $5 and $10. Over the years, Fraser Direct has raised over $ 150,000 for local causes. This year, profits will go to Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills, the Salvation Army Christmas Hamper program, the Acton Fall Fair/ Soccer Building, Georgetown Hospital, and other local charities. There will also be a ONE TIME ONLY special warehouse clearance of casual clothing (hoodies, casual pants) for boys, men and ladies at low prices. Fraser Direct charity book sale Nov. 17 Take a look inside some of the areas finer homes and gather some holiday decorating tips at the United Way of Halton Hills Annual Holiday House Tour, which takes place on Saturday, November 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Seven homes, all decked out for the Christmas season by local dec- orators and florists, will be featured on the self-guided tour. Proceeds from the event assist the United Way of Halton Hills to fund local agencies, which provide programs and services to the people of Halton Hills and the surrounding rural areas. This is a won- derful opportuni- ty to get t o g e t h e r with friends, get some g r e a t decorat- ing ideas, a n d enjoy a l u n c h be tween home vis- its! The tour this year will showcase seven fabulous homes that are situated in a range of areas of Halton Hills. Two of the homes on this years tour are two in one. The former G e o r g e t o w n Barber family carriage house and barn is now two homes. The homes were built in the late 1880s and much of the original structure has been pre- served. One of the Georgetown homes features a collection of art and cul- ture from the familys travelling experiences, while the Glen Williams residence will bring a warm, country flavor to your day. The open concept home in Acton boasts many windows that capture the beautiful surroundings and the feeling of nature. Magnificent homes in Georgetown South and Stewarttown, will offer elegance, comfort and family tradi- tions. Each home on the tour will offer its own unique decorating style and charm.
