Joe Caldarelli (CEO, CPI) and Mayor Rick Bonnette cut the ceremonial ribbon to pronounce the 62,500 square foot expansion open for business. Also on hand were (from left) Halton Hills councillors Dave Kentner, Bryan Lewis, Jane Fogal, Bonnette and Caldarelli, Joan Robson, John Duncan, Bob Inglis, Jon Hurst and CPI's Tony Russell. Guests at the ceremony also included local businesses and CPI employ- ees. The expansion symbolizes another stage of growth in CPI's more than 50 years in Georgetown. The extra space will be used to increase CPI's production of communica- tions and medical products. Photos by Ted Brown CPI opens new addition More than 200 politicians, neighbours, and Dufferin Aggregates staff enjoyed a buffet breakfast, tours of the operation, childrens activities and entertainment, and, aggregate product and heavy equipment displays at the annaul fall Open House of the Acton Quarry. During the day, the Quarry celebrated its receipt of the prestigious Ontario Stone, Sand & Gravel Associations Award of Excellence. The Award of Excellence is given to an operation in recognition of a producers outstanding initiatives toward site enhancement and industry improvement. The award recognizes the Acton Quarrys ongoing efforts in these areas. To be eligible for this award an aggregate operation is required to have already received other awards, including property enhancement, community relations, and progressive rehabilitation. The Open House was a huge success this year, said Rob McDougall, Acton Quarry Site Manager. It was great to be able to make the Award of Excellence announcement during the event. On Monday, Nov. 19, Dufferin Aggregates is hosting a public meeting on the future activities of the Acton Quarry. It will be held 7-9 p.m. (pre- sentation at 7:30 p.m.) at the Acton Arena & Community Centre.
