The Royal Canadian Legion in Bronte, General Chris Vokes Branch 486, will mark the solemn occasion of remembering those who served and serve for our country on Sunday, Nov. 7. A parade will muster at approximately 10:30 a.m. in front of the Legion located at 79 Jones St. It will then make its way to the Bronte Cenotaph for the laying of wreaths and service. The Royal Canadian Legion Oakville Branch 114 will hold its annual service on Thursday, Nov. 11 with a parade making its way to Georges Square for a service at the Cenotaph at 11 a.m. The parade will muster downtown with veter- ans (followed by members of the Armed Forces, RCMP, OPP, Halton police, Oakville firefighters, Knights of Columbus, Cadets, Scouts and Guides, and local dignitaries) march into the Cenotaph at George's Square. The 11 a.m. ceremony in George's Square will include two minutes of silence and a wreath lay- ing ceremony. After the ceremony, veterans march away to conclude the parade. Remembrance Day services Sunday and Thursday Oakville author Tom Douglas, who has written a number of books about Canadas military heritage, will be guest speaker at the Oakville Museum on Navy Street for a special Remembrance Day tribute on Tuesday, Nov. from 7-9 p.m. The theme of the address is the ori- gin of Remembrance Day and how it is celebrated around the world. Last December, Douglas spoke about Christmas in the Trenches to a large turnout at the Museums Erchless Estate. Following the presentation, there will be refreshments and a chance to meet the author, who will be signing copies of his books, including his four best-sellers: Canadian Spies, D-Day, Great Canadian War Heroes, and Valour at Vimy Ridge. The books will be available for sale at the Museum at a cash price of $10 each. While there is no set admission fee to this event, a cash donation to aid the museum in its service to the Town of Oakville would be appreciated.
