- Amanda was born in Waterdown, East Flamborough (Ontario) to Joseph Howard Oakley and Frances Mary (Dean) Oakley, who had come to Canada in 1817 or 1818 from England. Amanda married John A. Foreman, Jr. in Oakville on April 29, 1847. Other records in this group tell their story. Amanda divorced John in Topeka, Kansas, in 1866 after the American Civil War ended. She was in poor health and her mother, Frances, lived with her and her two children, Frances Mary and Charles Elmer until her death. She is buried in the Topeka Cemetery, Kansas.
