- Elmer Downs was a thresher as well as owner of a portable saw mill. He and his brother took the machinery to the farmers and set up shop where required. The photograph sowns the threshing machine steam engine and water tank - the power that operated the threshing machine. (The threshing machine isn’t shown.) The separator was probably being pulled behind by a team of horses. Circa 1930s.
