The original home appeared even more Georgian in influence than the existing home although it does have a very Georgian appearance outside. The initial home had a large central hall which was harmonious with the idea that the home was once used as a stage coach stop. This central hall, however, was removed in order to make use of the waste space created by it. It extended from the front entrance to the back door. Now it has been converted so that a stairway and front lobby greet you at the front entrance. A bathroom was put in on the second floor at the head of the stairs and a planning area was installed in the kitchen where the hallway originally existed.
The home now is a two storey home with four bedrooms and a washroom upstairs as well as a living room, dining room, kitchen, and work-storage room downstairs.
Originally the interior walls were split lath and plaster which were mostly papered. The present owners have decorated using wood paneling in the kitchen and dining room with tiled ceilings. The living room, hall, and bedrooms have been papered to compliment the other rooms.
Carrying through the Georgian influence, the original heating system was complete with two chimneys – one on either end of the house. Wood and coal stoves were replaced with space heaters and finally gas heating. With the installation of gas heating, the two chimneys were torn down and one central chimney built.
In carrying out the modernization of the home, the present owners installed plumbing in 1948. - Notes
