- "Once Emery Bradley had a dispute with his father, and decided that in retaliation he would walk all the way to Norville to enlist. Unluckily for him, the recruiting agent knew that he was too young and sent him home, saying he would be more help on the farm. The walk home was an extremely long one, because he had to face his father at the end. He signed up the next year."
