McManus, Madeline Bethany (Died)
- Full Text
McManus, Madeline Bethany -- October 16, 1991- September 20 1994. In loving memory of our precious little Angel. GODS LOAN, I'll lend to you for a little time, A child of mine, He said, For you to love while she lives, And Mourn when she is dead, It may be months or even years, Of twenty two or three, But will you 'till I call her back, Take care of her for me? She'll bring her charms to gladden you, And should her stay be brief, You'll have her lovely memories, As solace to your grief, I cannot promice that she will stay, Since all from earth returns, But there are lessons taught down there, I want the child to learn. I've looked this wide world over, In search for teachers true, And from the throngs that crowd life's lane, I have selected you. Now will you give her all your love, Nor think the labour vain, Nor hate me when I come to call, To take har back again? I fancied that I heard her say, Dear Lord, Thy will be done, For all the joy this child will bring, The risk of grief we'll run. We'll shower her with tenderness, We'll love her while we may, And for all the happiness we'll know, Forever grateful stay, But should the angels call for her, Much sooner than we planned, We'll brave the bitter grief that comes, And try to understand. It is because you taught us so much, About how to live each day, That has helped us to endure the pain and heartache, Of you being called away, We love you. Mom, Dad, Taylor and your new baby sister Emily.
