Description
Isobel’s dress was likely knit by her father, who had learned to knit as a pastime when he was confined to bed for a year following a back injury. Robert Ford was in a cast and unable to move, so he was placed in a “hospital bed” which could be wheeled into the dining room for meals, and out onto a platform by the side of the house for fresh air.
