Notes
Farmer, patriot or rebel, business man. Born in Perth, Scotland. Settled in the Scotch Block with his parents c. 1819. He was tried for treason after the Mackenzie rebellion, convicted and sentenced to transportation. He escaped and fled to the United States. He was pardoned in 1842 and returned to take up farming in the Scotch Block.
