Georgetown couple honeymoon in Hawaii

Marjorie Kathlee, daughter of Mrs. Roy Burt of R.R. 1, Georgetown was united in marriage to William Howitt Douglas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Douglas of R.R. 1, Acton on September 14.

St. John's United, Georgetown, was the scene of the double ring ceremony, with Rev. Harold Martin officiating. Mrs. Reg Williams of Stewarttown played the organ and Mrs. James Powell of Lowville sang the Wedding Hymn and the Wedding Song.

The brother of the bride, Donald Burt, gave away the bride who walked down the aisle in a Spanish style gown with empire waistline and long full sleeves, gathered at the wrist with silk organdy over taffeta. A sweeping train and headpiece was trimmed with Brussels lace. She carried a bouquet of red roses and white carnations. The bride wore a gold amethyst pendant that was 75 years old.

Attendants

Miss Barbara Burt of Georgetown, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Bridesmaids Mrs. Helen Stubbington of Acton and Miss Linda Smith of Campbellville the brides cousins, wore floorlength gowns of emerald green crepe and carried nosegays of rust and yellow mums, daisies and baby's breath. Flowers girls, Misses Bonnie and Julie Ward of Georgetown, cousins of the bride, wore floor length gowns of orange ice crepe and carried wicker baskets of yellow and rust mums, daisies and baby's breath.

The mother of the bride wore a floor length pink lace gown with a corsage of red and white sweetheart roses.

Groom's mother wore a floor length blue and green gown of silk organdy with a corsage of yellow and white sweetheart roses.

Father of the groom Norman Douglas Sr. was groomsman while the ushers were Norman Douglas Jr. brother of the groom and Jerry Jolicoeur, the groom's brother-in-law. They all wore white jackets with black velvet trim and black trousers.

An evening reception was held at St. Alban's Hall, Glen Williams at which 90 guests were present including: both grandmothers on the groom's side and many relatives from Toronto; the groom's sister and husband from Atikokan, Ont. and other guests from London, Bracebridge, Brampton, Georgetown, Acton, Milton and Hamilton.

The mother of the groom made the wedding cake which was decorated by Mary Price of Campbellville.

Five showers were given for the bride during August and September. Miscellaneous showers were given by Miss Linda Smith, Mrs. Helen Stubbington, Mrs. Judy Burt and Mrs. Marion Chenery. A linen shower was given by Mrs. Hifman.

After returning home from a honeymoon in Hawaii, the bride, who works at Northern Electric and the groom, who works for CN Railway, will be busy with the building of a home at R.R. 1, Acton.
