The supporters cheered loudly for Berezowski as clump by clump, the hair was sheared off her head. Tears began to stream down her face as she tried to retain her brave smile. Standing beside her, watching, were her mother, Ament Berezowski and her grandmoth- er Carol Nieboer who flew in from Edmonton for the event. It was hard knowing this was going to hap- pen, but this was the final point and it is really happening, said Ament Berezowski when asked about how she felt as she watched Victorias head being shaved. Ament said she was so thankful for the over- whelming support for her daughter and family from the church. Nieboer was equally thankful for the churchs support and proud of her granddaughters brav- ery in spite of her condition. Approximately 20 people were expected to attend the event. More than 100 people poured into the churchs gymnasium to show their support. As the volunteers began to have their heads shaved, Berezowski was back to her old self, hap- pily greeting, thanking and cheering on her sup- porters. Her youthful resilience lighting her path towards recovery.
