Major Dan Broome, co- paster of the Salvation Army in Oakville will lead the team on Saturday, Dec. 4. The Santa Shuffle 5 km fun run and 1km Elf Walk are being hosted by the Salvation Army in Oakville and the Running Room. The event helps The Salvation Army to raise the funds necessary to assist vulnera- ble people in crisis by feeding and provid- ing shelter for the homeless at The Salvation Army Halton Lighthouse Shelter. The event will begin at 10 a.m. at The Running Room located at 156 Lakeshore Rd. E. in downtown Oakville. Runners interested in participating or those wishing to sponsor a runner can do so online or at The Running Room (www.run- ningroom.com). According to Broome, approximately 150 people took part last year raising $2,000. Broome said the funds raised are split equally between the national Salvation Army and the local church. This year, all registration funds will be directed to the national church. Pledges raised will go to the local shelter, said Broome.
