The Centre was the 1,000th Halton employer to sign up to the EmployerRegistry.ca, an online community that connects employers and stu- dents in a co-operative education placement. The program was established in 2008 to help Ontario employers find students looking for short, medium and long-term experiential learning experience. It is a no-cost service and offers programs to senior elementary and sec- ondary school students. EmployerRegistry.ca was developed by the Halton Industry Education Council and is sup- ported by the ministry of education. It works in conjunction with the ministrys Passport to Prosperity initiative. ER (EmployerRegistry.ca) is a step in the right direction for co-op employers in Halton, said Joe Henning, the Centres technical direc- tor, in a press release. The Centre has been accepting co-op stu- dents since 1989, and Henning said placements benefit both the employer and the student. Its an opportunity I wish I would have had as a student, he said. Its a great way to train the next generation and there is nothing better than to see the students I trained become my colleagues in the industry.
