But when he was asked to shoot a documentary in India, and accepted the offer, he quickly learned how dif- ficult and at the same time rewarding the experience truly is. I think I probably found it the most rewarding thing Ive ever done. At the same time, there was a point where I had to say: I hate this, its really hard, Krishna said. I come from a practice of know- ing the story before Im filming it. Theres a script, theres actors. In this instance, it was just meeting life head on. Its what made it so challenging and so rewarding. The instructor in Sheridans media arts program and advanced tel- evision and film post-grad program shot a documentary about a boys family struggle to get medical help for their his facial deformity. The boys parents Krishna and Jayamma Yadav had wanted a son and prayed to the elephant-headed god Ganesh. Their prayers came true. However, their son was born with a facial deformity that made him resemble the god for whom he was named, Ganesh. The title of the film is Ganesh Boy Wonder. For years the parents struggled to get medical help without any luck until a Canadian doctor, Sarnias Dr. Sanjeev Kaila, decided to help the family and ended up performing a 10- hour long surgery. It was after Kaila decided that he would perform the surgery that the films producer Alfons Adetuyi asked Krishna if he would be interested in shooting the film. He responded, Ive never done a documentary before. Ive only done feature films and dramas and he said, Well, heres your chance if youre interested. I said Okay, let me check it out. Ten days later I found myself Boys struggle portrayed in documentary FACING A NEW FUTURE: Mother and father, Jayamma and Krishna Yadav, with their son Ganesh, the morning of an operation to address the young boys facial deformity. The familys ordeal is documented in the film, Ganesh Boy Wonder, directed by Sheridan instructor Srinivas Krishna and produced by Alfons Adetuyi.
