- SYKES, Ernest -- Passed away at the Summerland General Hospital, Summerland, BC., on Wednesday, September 2nd, 1998. Survived by his beloved wife Eileen of Summerland, sons, William Robert (Mary) of Spruce Grove, Alberta, Ernest Francis (Pauline) of Summerland, Raymond George (Anne) of Niagara Falls, Phillip James (Betsy) of Edmonton, Daughters Karen Anne (Bill) Sykes of Georgetown, 27 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren and brother Gordon (Catherine) Sykes of Ancaster, Ontario. Ernie and Eileen owned Sykes Bakery in Georgetown for many years. He was a member of City Council, past president of the Georgetown Lions Club, a drummer with the Toronto Scottish Regiment Pipe Band. He was with the R.C.A.F. in WW11. Also, very active with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints everywhere they lived and served on 3 missions with the Church. Friends will be received at the J.S. Jones & Son Funeral Home, Georgetown, Ontario, on Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Bramalea Rd. & Bovaird Dr., Brampton) on Tuesday, September 8th, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. Interment Greenwood Cemetery, Georgetown.
