- Full Text
MCNAUGHTON DALGLISH, Audrey (nee Watts) (May 7, 1917 September 5, 2010) The family announces, with great sorrow, the death of Audrey Watts McNaughton Dalglish in Barrie, Ontario. Daughter of the late Gordon and Estelle Watts of Oakville, Ontario, sister to the late Barbara (Watts) Perry and the late Joan (Watts) Johnson. Beloved aunt to Donna, Ron, Bob, Susan, Wendy, Gordon, Doug and the late Vicki and great aunt to David, Diane, Alistair, Alexander, Janet, Barbara, Stuart, Thomas, Emily, Andrew, Katie, Molly and Nicholas. Member of the Toronto Heliconian Club and the Oakville Art Society. Audrey was an artist and an international traveler whose independence, wit and intellect, and the stories she told about her many adventures, were enjoyed by all who experienced them. As she explored this world, she had the confidence and sense of purpose to bridge many nontraditional roles for women of her generation - pilot, advocate, student and dreamer. Her portraits and landscapes are owned and valued by many around the world. Audrey was honored to paint many prominent statesmen, among them Canadian Prime Minister Louis St. Laurent and King Hussein of Jordan. Deep love and appreciation from Audrey's family go to her niece, Donna Bailey, who provided constant and conscientious oversight to Audrey's well being. Sincere gratitude is also extended to the staff of Victoria Village Manor in Barrie who took such good care of Audrey. There will be a private family service.
