SHORT, Dorothy Emmeline (nee Wallace), R.N. Passed away in Oakvi l le , Ontar io on October 14th, 2010 in her 90th year, wi th her fami ly at her s ide. Beloved wife of the late Alan F. D. (2007) for over 65 years. Loved mother of Judith But ler (Swi tzer land, former ly o f St . Cathar ines) , A lan James (Vancouver Is land), Mary (Stephen Old, Ottawa) and the late Roger (Donna, Calgary). Devoted grandmother of Jason, Ei l is, Sarah, Liam and Jamie Short; Kait l in Butler Rees; Aislinn and Rebecca Old, a n d A r a n S h o r t , a n d g r e a t - g r a n d - mother of s ix. Dear fr iend of former son-in-law John Butler (St. Catharines) a n d c o m p a n i o n o f h e r d e d i c a t e d careg iver, Mercy Cor isay. Born and raised in Bowness (Calgary) on Apri l 30th, 1921 of Ir ish parents, Dorothy was a proud resident of Old Oakvi l le ( O n t a r i o ) f o r t h e p a s t 4 5 y e a r s . She was a faithful and active member o f S t . Jude 's Church . A f te r ra is ing four children, Dorothy entered nursing training at the age of 50, and spent the n e x t 2 0 y e a r s w o r k i n g i n v a r i o u s c a p a c i t i e s a s a r e g i s t e r e d n u r s e . Funeral service was held on Monday, October 18th at 1:00 p.m. at St Jude's Anglican Church, 160 Wil l iam Street , Oakvi l le L6J 1C5, followed by interment in St. Jude's Cemetery.
