Lemonade from lemonsPHOTOS BY ERIC RIEHL / OAKVILLE BEAVERJACK'S SUCCESS STORY: In its fifth year, Jack's Lemonade fundraiser in support of the SickKids Foundation and Toronto's Hospital for Sick Children drew an estimated 3,500 people to west Oakville'sPine Glen Park Saturday. It raised approximately $76,000 this year and has raised more than $300,000 to date. Jack Yeilding, 8, who suffered from a severe form of epilepsy, began hosting the fundraiser inhis driveway. Saturday's event featured a performance by The Fire Guy, appearances by animals from Jungle Cat World, a firetruck, numerous mascots including Sparky the fire dog, a bouncy castle, craftmaking, the Home Depot Kids team, a petting zoo and more. At centre, Jack, who had a trio of brain surgeries in early 2010 and has not experienced a seizure (he was having 50 a day), serves up lemonadeat his home-made lemonade stand. According to mom Jodi,Jack's favourite part of the day was serving lemonade. The first donation of the day was for $1,000 and it was from a man who had epilepsy as a child. There were 28 activity stations thanks to corporatesupporters and local community groups.
