hit and run late Saturday tern n in which an eight year old Acton girl was killed Police called off the province- wide alert Wednesday morning for a vehicle described by wit after charges were laid A car owned by the local man was seized by police Sunday and sent to Toronto for tests at the forensic laboratory Laurie Lynn Shaw a resident of Acton for only the last four months was almost instantly killed on Main St North just above the CNR tracks about Saturday as she allegedly walked on the east shoulder of the road Police said she was struck from behind by a vehicle proceeding north The eight yearold child was walking with girl friends Alana 12 301 Main St and Beverly Cox 11 of the same address but Laurie Lynn two friends were on the west shoulder of the road It Is believed Laurie Lynn stopped briefly to pick some berries along the roadside The two girls never saw their friend hit They turned around after the car had gone by to see Laurie Lynn lying on the road Witnesses Witnessing
