By Bob Mac Arthur After eight weeks here it la again No I djo not go south with the birds ve been in town all the while but Just not able to attend to the business of writing this column Will try my to keep it up to the end of the season It came as a shock to hear John has resigned as president and from the board of directors of the club Johnny has quit because of health reasons And I understand that he has resigned from a number of other boards in the community This club will be one of the losers because Johnny has spent a large amount of time and talent on the formation and running of the curling club It is hoped that he may improve in health so much that he will again be able to take part in activities Johnny you will be missed A NUMBER of games have had to be to the not functioning pronerly But Monday a member of the manufacturer staff spent quite a while at the club and when he left the machine was working properly So much so that a flood was put on the rink to help level out crooked Ice The directors have been doing all In their power to get the ice sheets in playing condition They have had two men down from Guelph the Ice maker of Georgetown rink has also been here And members of the club visited the Brampton club to see if they could get pointers on levelling the ice So the powers that be have not been idle They are really trying for that perfect ice But then what rink in the immediate neighborhood does not have their problems in making level ice THE HALTON PEEL scheduled for Acton on Tuesday evening was cancelled due to uncertain Ice TWOGAMES were played last night for the first draw They were the Monday night mixed draws The finals for the Adams Trophy is scheduled for Friday night They will be played at clock This wilt end the first mixed Monday Tuesday and Friday night draws are in thisplaydown Wednesdays runs the whole THE NEW DRAWS will be made up Friday night for the rest of the season Understand there Is plenty of room in the Friday mixed draws for any person who wants to take part These draws will run for 10 weeks A GENERAL MEETING of the members will be set up shortly to fill the vacancy on the board In the meantime Charles the vice president is filling In as president to conduct the business of the club DURING THE NEXT set of draws It is hoped to publish the standing of each of the teams so that all players will know the position of their respective teams If you have any items of interest to curlers I would appreciate it If you would get in touch with the writer It all helps to fill this column teams Sixteen team
