of Mrs Martlndale who taught French Latin and English However they now look upon the situation not as one of losing a personality but as one of gaining on International traveller Deep roots Carl Cayer la the man replacing Mrs Martlndale lie was born In Ottawa where his family has deep roots His grandfather worked on the Colonel By Canal Attending High school the few students who never had Rubs Jackson as a teacher even though he took all the maths Furthering education ho attended the University of Ottawa and received a Bachelor of Commerce Degree After this he worked for two years and discovered that he t especially like commerce To break the monotony ho spent three months in Europe two of which were spent In Holland When he returned to Canada he travelled out west and while In held a Job with the provincial government In labor statistics Again the travelling urge struck mm and ho travelled back east to Expo and from there down into the United States Fills vacancy Attend Back in Canada he attended the University of Guolph and received an Honors DA In French Having accomplished this he was one of three people com to receive a scholarship from the University of Provence in France While at a school In France he travelled through much of Europe He returned to Ottawa once more this time with a Masters Degree in French Mr then started to look for his first teaching opportunity Finding none in Ottawa he headed for this region where he secured the opening In our school He looked for a small school with a small number of classes Independence and a flexible system Ho has found all of these plus a helpful staff at Acton His hardest Job was to find exactly what the know and don know in his French English and Latin classes Throughout his life he has done exactly what he wanted and has always kept busy He has exercised caution In making decisions He looks forward to the semester system next year and thinks It will greatly benefit the students The future is up Acton students are aware by now Mrs Reed Head of Modems had an unfortunate accident when she fell Injuring her hip on Monday thus leaving Acton High with only one French teacher On Monday the position was filled by Peter Blake who came from Preston Mr Blake had been supply teaching in the Kitchener area and had planned on taking his France at 1 de Besancon Prestonborn He attended Preston high school in his home town and later studied at Waterloo Western and Montreal Universities He got his Master Degree in Linguistics majoring in French and Russian with minors In German and Spanish Mr Blake has a wide variety of hobbies He is very Interested in computer programming and enjoys listening to classical music especially the period of Bach and early Mozart His interests extend to
