1971 chairman of Acton Parks and Recreation Committee at the committees first meeting of the new year Thursday Mr Patterson succeeds Councillor Peter Marks who chaired the committee last year Gil Malcolm a one year veteran the committee was named vicechairman He follows Bob who stepped down at the end of the year because of new job committments Mr Patterson was re appointed to the committee last fall He had previously served on Acton council Acton council polished off a long agenda in a snappy hour and a half meeting Tuesday including the passage of three bylaws concerning snow removal a new fire agreement with the townships and a police agreement which allows for another constable on the Acton detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police All members of council were present with Councillor Bill Coats presiding for the committee of the whole session Prohibits dumping snow on roods Directed at people who push snow onto the street from driveways thenew snow removal bylaw mysteriously does not mention snow in wording so It can conform with the Act It prohibits dumping on bridges or highways Mayor explained that council Is reluctant to pass bylaws of this nature and
