and plan ways of procuring Christmas lighting and decorations as a community project No more business Few business men showed interest and some expressed the attitude that the merchants are always contacted for donations where in actuality Christmas lights in December do not create more business anyway Considerable controversy prevailed and it was generally agreed that festive lighting was not a promotional gimmick for more business In the village but rather one of community good the warmth of Christmas and holiday spirit Cant afford It A general discussion as to what extent the trustee board was to cooperate toward obtaining the facts from Don Hilts the present iholrman of the trustees that the unmet afford to budget for extra frills such holiday ligl ting but that once a committee had been formed and th ir findings brought back to trustee meeting they could then discuss the possibilities One thing I can say said Chairman Hiltb if plans are made which include the useage of the town hall we certainly will make it free of charge Set precedent One of the villagers present suggested that if the trustees allowed any group to get the hall free for money raising schemes other organizations would also feel they should have the same rights However it was generally agreed that the Christmas tree decorating committee to be appointed would be raising the money which would benefit the village directly and not their own group in which event It would be ridiculous to charge for the facilities Various questions were raised as to whether township residents should be considered in the event of a Christmas home display contest but it was decided that the whole scheme should be a project and a campaign for Interesting various village organizations to get behind it would be up to the committee formed On committee Appointed as head man to get things roll was David Rowc with other members Bert Smith as trustee representative Clayton McLaren Betty Lou Clark Louis Hilts and Lorraine Root The committee chosen will act as an investigating group responsible for checking costs considering amount of lighting and what type of decoration would best suit the village of
