magazine reported Mrs Mrs A Newton Flower and Gift convener sent cards and flowers to the 111 and bereaved Mrs J Reed and Mrs Educational Secretaries reported that was presented to Joe for music ad vancement Pens were presented to the student In grade eight showing most progress during the year one to Robert Little and one to Bennett public school Trophy was presented to North Festival was pulpit Reverend Adams stepped Into her new role pastor of the Hillcrest Bethel charge after two years as minister of Fairlawn United Church In North Toronto In Hornby 1 be back doing what I enjoy most being involved in the liturgy and worship areas of the ministry she commented Greatest challenge In Toronto most of her work centred around Christian Education where she was instrumental in revamping the church school and seeing its membership more than double in the last year Miss Adams decided on her career at the age of graduating 10 years later with a Bachelor of Divinity degree from Emmanuel College in Toronto She had already gained a BA from the I wanted to do something with life said and the ministry held the greatest challenge with the prospect of greatest fulfillment She says she thinks she has been very fortunate in her associations in the church never feeling any discrimination in her career I believe more women should be informed on the fact the ministry can be a meaningful career for women she stated It field where often a woman can move in more easily than a man especially in working with children and in community visiting Must trust her linking forward to a long term in the area she says she feels the first year will be mainly spent getting to know her congregation Its usually well into the second year before people really start telling you what bothering them They must reach a stage where they feel they can trust you By the third year everybody feels they know everybody Besides a penchant for browsing In art galleries Miss Adams enjoys cooking and interior assisted with planting of geraniums on graves The Standard was placed by a member Remembrance Day Nov 11 a wreath placed at Cenotaph by the Regent Standard was carried by a membtr Members assisted with the cancer drive Donations made Local donations were sent to Children Aid Decoration Day committee and Canadian legion Donations to Provincial and National funds were to Community Hall Morrison Scholarship fund Korean Project Peace Garden Shipping Travel and Exchange Fund raising for the year Included tag day at Acton Fall Fair used for library and general work of the I and a hake sale Anniversary tea celebrating the birthday of Provincial Chapter and the of a member Miss Bennett was held in June In the afternoon at the home of Mrs Gordon Johnston Chapter members were guests and 50 year members of both chapters were presented with corsages Mowers centering ten table in red white and blue were donated by a membtr and birthday cake decorated by the Regent Spoke on trip A short program was enjoyed Joe Petri spoke on citizenship and trip sponsored by Rotary club to Ottawa and entertained with numbers Mrs Ward Bruce gave several humorous monologues A tour of homes by a Guelph
